OTO-111 Old Testament Overview - An overview course including a brief history of the Bible, tips on how to best use your Life in the Spirit Study Bible and an overview of the Old Testament. Topics such as the fall of man, Old Testament covenants and blessings and cursing, will be discussed. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
NTO- 121 New Testament Overview - An overview of the New Testament including its purpose, Christ’s portrayal, and a historical description of the Gospel writers - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Also there is an overview of Acts, Colossians, and Philippians. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
OTP- 131 Old Testament Prophets Minor I - A study on the Biblical Books of six (6) Minor Prophets from Hosea to Micah, with a historical perspective and overview of each Book. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
OTP-141 Old Testament Prophets Major I - A study Course on the Books of Isaiah and Jeremiah, with a historical perspective and overview of each book. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
ALG-151 Atonement - Law vs. Grace - A study course on atonement discussing the ten commandments, mosaic law, blood atonement under law, and atonement under grace; as well as the mercy seat of the Old Testament vs. the mercy of Christ. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
LOC-162 Life of Christ I - An overview course on the Life of Christ from His being prophesied in Genesis until the beginning of His public ministry. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
MAP-I72 Miracles and Parables I - A study of Christ’s Parables emphasizing their meaning then and their application now. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
DIS-182 Disciples I - A study on six (6) disciples: James, John, Judas, Simon Peter, Andrew and Matthias; their calling, their portrayals of Christ and their contributions to the Gospel. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
HSP-192 Holy Spirit I - A study of the Holy Spirit, including the Person of the Spirit, and the fruits and gifts of the Spirit; the meaning of the indwelling of, baptism of, and blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will also be discussed. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
MOC-102 Making of a Christian I - A study course on how a person receives salvation; topics such as regeneration, justification, and works will be discussed. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
Note: After successful completion of the 10 courses required above during the freshman year, a Diploma in Biblical Studies will be awarded.
Sophomore Year
CSR-211 Christian Service Requirement I - The Student will submit a plan for Christian Service (CSF1) for this semester which could include donating their time and service to a church, hospital, nursing home, prison or other facility; or the student can choose to do the CSR provided by HHWBC. An essay on the outcome, lessons learned, and any spiritual growth attained is required. No text required. (Incarcerated students must use HHWBC’s CSR.)
OTP-221 OT Prophets Minor II - This overview course will be include a study of the six (6) remaining Minor prophets, Books Nahum to Malachi of the Bible. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
OTP-231 OT Prophets Major II - A study course on the Biblical Books of Nehemiah and I and II Samuel, with a historical perspective on each and an overview. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
LOC-241 Life of Christ II - An overview course on the life of Christ from the beginning of His public ministry to His ascension. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
MAP-251 Miracles & Parables II - A study of Christ’s miracles emphasizing their meaning and their application today. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
DIS-262 Disciples II - A continuation of the study from DIS-181, including the rest of the disciples, with the addition of Paul; their calling, their portrayal of Christ, and their contribution to the Gospels. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
HSP-272 Holy Spirit II - A continuation of the study from HSP-191, of the gifts of the Spirit; including healing, tongues, and other works of the Holy Spirit. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
MOC-282 Making of a Christian II - A study course applying the principles learned in MOC-101, in witnessing, testifying, and ministering to the lost and the saved. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
CSR-292 Christian Service Requirement II - Same as CSR-212 except for semester II. Perform a different service than CSR-211. No text required
MWR-202 Ministerial Writing I - A writing course emphasizing the writing of sermons, Bible studies, exhortations, and encouraging letters. Writing submittals will be graded for content, grammar and spelling. No text required
Upon successful completion of freshman and sophomore courses, an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies will be awarded.
Junior Year
ACT-311 The Birth of the Church I – An overview course covering Acts chapters 1 – 14, discussing the birth of the Christian Church. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
CPS-321 Christian Public Speaking I - A public speaking course with practical application on preparing sermons, exhortations, and Bible studies. A tape submittal is required (for incarcerated students a written submittal may be accepted). No text required
CFB-331 Christian Family Budgeting - A study course including scriptural guidance on money management and tithing. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
ROM-341 Romans I - A study course on the Book of Romans, including Chapters 1 through 8. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
ROM-351 Romans II - A study course on the book of Romans, including Chapters 9 through 16. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
ACT-362 The Birth of the Church II – A study course covering Acts chapters 15 – 28, discussing the birth of the Christian church. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
GEN-372 Genesis Course. - A study course on the Book of Genesis looking at the various major historic figures, their lives and their relationship with God. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
ISA-382 Isaiah Course - An overview course on the Book of Isaiah emphasizing the messianic prophesies included in this Book. Text: Life in the Spirit Study Bible
MWR-392 Ministerial Writing II - A practical writing course emphasizing the writing of sermons, Bible studies, and exhortations, as well as letters of encouragement. No text required
CSR-302 Christian Service Requirement III - This is the first half of a major Christian Service project. This project will run over two (2) semesters concurrent with CSR-411. Projects could include creation of a food bank, prison ministry, assisting a pastor, fundraising, target prayer, or the student can choose to do the CSR provided by HHWBC. A paper is required for both CSR-302 & CSR-411; one (1) paper to be submitted at the half-way point updating the status of the project, and the second at the end of the project stating what was achieved, lessons learned, and recommendation for future similar projects. A CSF1 is required to be submitted and approved before starting the project, unless the student is using the CSR provided by HHWBC. (Incarcerated students must use HHWBC’s CSR.) No Text Required
